8GB iPhone 5c Launching Tomorrow, Rumor Says

Most reports these days have suggested that Apple is slowly moving to discontinue the iPhone 5c, a smartphone that failed to meet the company’s sales expectations despite its array of color options. The company may soon change up its iPhone 5c strategy by offering a new, lower cost model with less storage out of the box.
According to a leaked email obtained by Stadt-Bremerhaven.de, O2 will soon offer an iPhone 5c with just 8GB of storage. It will sell for about €509 (approx. $709 USD), the site said, while the 16GB model will retail for €569 ($793) and a 32GB model will sell for €629 ($877). That’s a price drop across the board, since the 16GB model usually retails for €599 ($835) and the 32GB option sells for €699 ($974). As we rely more and more on the cloud, the lack of storage won’t be an issue for everyone, though Apple’s price still isn’t coming in low enough to compete with mid-range to low-end Android devices.
The 8GB version of the iPhone 5c is expected to have the exact same specs as the other models, though obviously just without as much storage. Stadt-Bremerhaven.de said that Apple will only sell the 8GB iPhone 5c in blue and white, however. The device is set to launch tomorrow, so we’ll let you know if Apple makes any official announcement – and what markets the device launches in. We’re still not sure if this is something that will come to the United States, too.
